About the Artist

One of the industry’s most electrifying live performers, four-time Grammy Award winner and American Idol judge, Keith Urban, will bring his “Light the Fuse Tour” to the Washington State Fair on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.
Born Keith Lionel Urban in Whangarei, North Island, New Zealand in 1967, he moved with his parents and brother to Brisbane, Queensland when he was 2. They later moved to Caboolture, about one hour north of Brisbane. At an early age he started playing instruments, including the guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, ganjo (six-string banjo), sitar, and piano.
His music career switched to high gear when he moved to Nashville in 1992. His first American album came as a member of The Ranch (1997), followed by an increasingly accomplished series of chart-topping solo albums: Keith Urban (1999), Golden Road (2002), Be Here (2004), Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing (2006), and Defying Gravity (2009).
He’s sold more than 15 million.  His lengthy list of Number Ones—which now numbers fifteen—includes “But For The Grace Of God,” “Somebody Like You” (which was named the top country song of the decade), “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me,” “You’ll Think Of Me,” “Days Go By,” “Better Life,”  “You Look Good In My Shirt,” and "Sweet Thing."
His seventh album, FUSE, which released in September 2013, debuted as the Number One selling album in the nation in its first week. That album has already produced two Number One hits, “Little Bit of Everything” and “We Were Us”. A third single, “Cop Car”, is being played on country radio stations.
He is the only member of last season’s American Idol’s judges to return this season, being joined by Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.
Keith Urban became the first artist to win Male Vocalist of the Year (2004, 2005), entertainer of the Year (2005), and the Horizon Award (2001) at the Country Music Association Awards.
